AWARDS

The 'Colours of Humanity' Arts Prize 2024 will present the following award to the selected artwork:

'Colours of Humanity' Award, the main Art Prize award presented to an artwork that best aligns with the theme and showcases exploration of diversity and inclusion, alongside a cash prize of HKD $25,000.

Shortlisted artworks will be announced in early October and showcased in an exhibition open to the public at the Goethe Gallery and Black Box Studio Hongkong from mid-November 2024 until late December 2024.

ELIGIBILITY OF ARTISTS

The Colours of Humanity Art Prize 2024 (the 'Prize'), administered by Current Plans, is open to all artists based in Hong Kong. Artists of diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to submit their work.

The Prize does not discriminate on the basis of gender, race, or ethnicity, color, immigration status, national origin, religion, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, artistic training or background.

MEDIUM

The Prize is open to original artwork of the entrant in any visual or audio media. All work entered must be the original work of the entrant and proof may be required at the sole discretion of the judges and directors of the Prize.

Entrants should only submit finished, complete Artworks into the Competition. Unfinished Artworks or Artworks which are partially complete will not be accepted.

Artworks submitted shall not have been exhibited at the Goethe Institut prior to this exhibition.

The maximum amount of submission allowed is two entries, but only one of these Artworks may be eligible for display in the Exhibition at the discretion of the organisers.

SUBJECT

The essence of the Colours of Humanity Arts Prize is to promote Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

LEGAL RESTRICTIONS

All works submitted must be fully compliant with all Hong Kong laws.

SELECTION

The shortlist and main prize selection will be selected by the judging panel based on two criteria:

1. Artistic Merit and Originality
The work will be assessed on its creativity, originality, and overall artistic quality.

2. Relevance to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
The extent to which the artwork reflects and promotes the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion. This includes the representation of under-represented groups and experiences, themes of social impact, and the ability to inspire change or raise awareness.

The decision of the Organisers on all matters relating to the judging, vote and competition will be final.

Shortlisted artists will be notified by email. The Organiser reserves the right to disqualify an Entrant, where in the view of the Organiser: the Artwork does not meet the requirements as stated herein, the Entrant cannot be contacted, or the Entrant does not respond within seven days of being contacted by the Organiser.

SHORTLISTED WORK AND NOTIFICATION

EXHIBITION

All shortlisted works must be available for display throughout the entire duration of the exhibition. Substitutions will not be permitted.

PREPARATION OF ARTWORK

a) The shortlisted artist's name, address and phone number, title of work and suggested price must be clearly marked on the back of each work (if applicable).
b) Shortlisted artists are responsible for covering the cost of delivery of their artwork to the venue prior to the opening of the event, ensuring their pieces are packaged suitably as the Organiser cannot accept any liability for loss or damage.
c) Any artwork that is to be exhibited framed, needs to be delivered as such with any expenses for framing covered by the artist
d) Shortlisted artists are responsible for the delivery, hanging and/or installation of their work, with support from the venue staff and as directed by the curator, ensuring their pieces are displayed securely as the Organiser and the venue do not accept any liability for loss or damage.
e) In the event of video art being shortlisted, the artist must provide the necessary hardware to display the piece if needed.
f) Each piece must be signed by the artist, if applicable, and/or include a signed certificate of authenticity in absence of signature.

RECEIPT OF SHORTLISTED ENTRIES

Entries must be delivered at the expense of the artist to the exhibition venue: The Goethe-Institut Hong Kong, Hong Kong Arts Centres, 2 Harbour Rd, Wan Chai. Artists will be asked to deliver the work on an agreed time and day in the week prior to the exhibition opening.

COLLECTION OF ARTWORKS AFTER EXHIBITION

Exhibitors must collect their works at their own expense upon the conclusion of the exhibition. The Organiser will provide reasonable notice for pick-up of artworks and will not be responsible for works not collected by the advised time.

CARE AND RESPONSIBILITY

Artists accept full liability for their own artwork and are encouraged to obtain insurance coverage if they wish to do so. The Organiser and venue will exercise all reasonable care with works submitted, but will not be responsible for the loss of or damage to any work while in its custody or in transit to and from the office or venue.

COPYRIGHT

The Organiser reserves the right to photograph works shortlisted and exhibited at the Prize exhibition for the purpose of documentation, fundraising, current and future promotion, educational, publicity or other purpose. The artists grant license to the Organiser to reproduce and sell the image of the work in electronic and printed forms and for general publicity purposes. All necessary acknowledgements of authorship will be made.

PRIVACY POLICY

The personal details requested on this form will only be used for the purpose of processing your application, keeping records, and establishing your identity. The information is restricted to the Organiser, venue staff, Prize staff, judges and other authorised people within the scope of organizing the exhibition.

INTERPRETATION OF THE RULES

In the event of a dispute regarding the interpretation of conditions, the decision of the Organiser shall be binding on all parties.
